Repent, then, and turn to God,

so that your sins may be wiped out,

that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

Acts 3:19

*          *          *          *

…if we walk in the light,

as he is in the light,

we have fellowship with one another,

and the blood of Jesus,

his Son,

purifies us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

*          *          *          *

If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins

and purify us from all unrighteousness.

If we claim we have not sinned,

we make him out to be a liar and his word is

not in us.

1 John 1:9-10

*          *          *         *

Therefore confess your sins to each other

and pray for each other

so that you may be healed.

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:16

Repentance is not so much remorse for what we have done as the fear of the consequences

Francois la Rochefoucauld

It is good to meditate upon this above quote,

to search your heart, to do any correcting of motives

so that any needed repentance will be effective in your life.

*          *          *          *

Repentance is a grace of God’s Spirit

whereby a sinner is

inwardly humbled and visibly reformed.

Thomas J. Watson

Repentance

*          *          *          *

A Dictionary definition for the word, repent:

To feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin.

*          *          *          *

A. W. Tozer says:

We must hide our un-holiness in the wounds of Christ.

So, where do we start with repentance?

We start at the Cross of Jesus.

Why there? Because 1 Corinthians 1:18  tells us;

For the message of the cross

it is foolishness to those who are perishing,

but

to us who are being saved

it is the power of God.

And it is this power  that can break the power of sin presently within our lives and it is also this power that is able to cleanse us from these sins.  Plus, it is this very power that can do  much — much  more for us. (Go to The Cross of Jesus and the Blood of Jesus teaching to learn more about the power of the Cross.)

We go to the Cross of Jesus to repent, to become clean and pure before our Father God. For the victories and freedom that our Heavenly Father has for each of us flows out from the Cross of Jesus.

And the only way for us to receive our Father God’s shield of victory, and His freedom, is to have clean hands and a pure heart before Him.

Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD?
   Who may stand in his holy place?

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
   who does not trust in an idol
   or swear by a false god.

Psalm 24:3-4

Now, if you have been sinning, before you continue with this teaching,  I “STRONGLY” suggest you first read; Psalm 32  and also  Psalm 51  to get King David’s understanding of true repentance!

    *          *          *          *          *

 What is Repentance?

     *          *          *          *          *

Repentance –

Brings us life!

Repentance –

Brings about the forgiveness

of our sins!

Repentance –

Makes us clean and pure.

Repentance is:

God’s offer of love to each of us.

Repentance is the beginning of responding in the opposite spirit to any pride or unbelief  or any sin in our life.

Repentance means to change our thinking patterns to renew our mind and to have the right heart attitude towards our Father God  (Which, by the way, is having the same heart attitude that King David had as he wrote Psalms 32  and also Psalm 51.)

Repentance is:

A gift of Grace!

*          *          *          *          *

Humility And Repentance

*          *          *          *          *

Repentance can only come about from a place of humility in our hearts because our Father God only gives Grace to a person with a humble spirit.

But he gives us more grace.

That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
   but shows favor to the humble.”

James 4:6

My sacrifice,

 O God, is a broken spirit;

 a broken and contrite heart

    you, God, will not despise.

Psalm 51:17

The Holy Spirit and Repentance

    *          *          *          *          *

Repenting means to be led by the Holy Spirit and together with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are to search our hearts and see were we have sinned.

When he comes,

 he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin

and righteousness and judgment:

John 16:8

Search me, God, and know my heart;
   test me and know my anxious thoughts.

 See if there is any offensive way in me,
   and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

Repentance happens: by way of the blessing of conviction. Conviction always is brought to us

by the work of the Holy Spirit within our life.

What does conviction do?

Concerning repentance, conviction tells our soul: that we are guilty, that we have done something wrong, that we have sinned.

    *          *          *          *          *

Conviction is the Opposite of Condemnation.

(Complete Teaching on Conviction and Condemnation)

    *          *          *          *          *

Condemnation tells us that: “We are something wrong.”  Notice the difference between the two;

Conviction:

We “have done” something wrong.

Condemnation:

We “are” something wrong.

By the way, condemnation is: always tied to shame.

Conviction, draws us to the Cross of Jesus so that we may go there and confess and  be cleansed of our sins.

Condemnation tries to keep us away from the Cross of Jesus.

The Enemy Does Not Want Us To Repent!

    *          *          *          *          *

What is the end result of Repentance?

    *          *          *          *          *

The forgiveness of all sins in our lives. Like the sins we see in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Do you not know

that the wicked will not

inherit the kingdom of God?

Do not be deceived:

Neither the sexually immoral

nor idolaters

nor adulterers

nor male prostitutes

nor homosexual offenders

nor thieves

nor the greedy

nor drunkards

nor slanderers

nor swindlers

will inherit the kingdom of God.

Or the sins Jesus speaks of in Mark 7:20-23:

He says:

“What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’

For from within…..men’s hearts, come

evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft,

murder, adultery, greed,

malice, deceit, lewdness,

envy, slander, arrogance and folly.

All these evils come from inside and

make a man ‘unclean.’ “

But, when we sincerely repent before our Father God, at the Cross of our Brother Jesus, then we are;

washed,

         cleansed,

             and

    sanctified.

1 Corinthians 6:11

We are restored!

he restores my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
   for his name’s sake.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Psalm 23:3

*          *          *          *          *

Also Repentance Is:

*          *          *          *          *

The first step on the paths of righteousness,

he restores my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
   for his name’s sake.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Psalm 23:3

The paths to our Heavenly Father’s love and forgiveness and into His intimate presence.

Concerning righteousness, in scripture we see two kinds of righteousness.

The first:

is what was imparted to us when Jesus was raised from the dead.

The second:

we put on, we walk in, we choose it to be a part of our daily lives.

The fruit of that righteousness will be peace;
   its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.

   My people will live in peaceful dwelling places,
   in secure homes,
   in undisturbed places of rest.

Isaiah 32:17-18

Repentance:

Transforms our life.

Therefore, we need to repent, for the Kingdom of God is near.

“The time has come,”

he said.

“The kingdom of God has come near.

Repent and believe the good news!”

Mark 1:15

The Kingdom of God in part means:

Peace, Healing, Victory,

Freedom and Joy.

Repentance implies returning to our Heavenly Father. This is what our Father God is waiting for. He is waiting for us to repent. (Luke 15:11-32)

When we properly repent, we can worship our Father God and our Brother, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we can do Spiritual Warfare.

*          *          *          *          *

As this teaching comes to an end why not take a few minutes and apply what you have just read. Become still and ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart for any sins that need to be confessed. See yourself at the Cross of your Brother Jesus and doing this before your Father God and with the Holy Spirit helping you and  leading you and guiding you.

For it is the Holy Spirit, the third part of the Trinity, He, Himself  is the one who has brought us to the Cross of Jesus our Brother and there He is personally sanctifying and showing us that we have been justified. And if we can handle this, He is
 dressing us in clean and white clothing.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;

   wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Psalm 51:7

And that is what some of you were.

But you were washed,

you were sanctified,

you were justified

in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

and

by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11

The armies of heaven were following him,

riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,

white and clean.

Revelation 19:14

P.S. Now, if you have applied these truths, you are now clean and pure before your Father in Heaven. Do not go by your feelings here, for this is an act of your will. First, you apply these truths in your life, then later on your feelings will follow.

P.S.S.  Now that you are clean and pure before your Father God, I would encourage you to spend some time in Praise and Worship to your Father in Heaven.  And also, to focus on Who you are, in the section; Identity As A Son.
