…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Hebrews 9:22

*          *          *          *          *

To meditate on the cross of Jesus cannot be done without meditating on His shed blood.

*          *          *          *          *

We know that as our

heavenly Father
 sits upon His throne, and as He looks over to Jesus at His right hand,  He always sees the pierced hands of His Son.  So our Father God is continuously being reminded of the perfect sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf over 2,000 years ago.

Yet in heaven, it is as if it has just happened.  Have you ever wondered why?  Why those wounds on Jesus were not healed?  We know that Jesus is perfect in every way, but why have those wounds remained? Why, when He received His glorified body, did a miracle not take place causing the wounds on His hands and feet and His side to be completely healed?

Scripture says that:

“…nothing is impossible for God.”

                                                                               Luke 1:37

And we have seen far greater miracles throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry.  It is important for us to see that it is no accident that within the wisdom of the Triune Godhead those wounds remain upon Jesus for all time and eternity and they remain

for a reason.  They remain as an everlasting memorial to gaze upon, to remember and celebrate what our wonderful Savior did because of His love for His Father and His love for you and for me.  For it was from those wounds that the final outpouring of His blood took place.

Let’s take a moment and review all the places where Jesus gave His Blood for each of us.

It started in the garden of Gethsemane, remember:

“He sweat blood.”

                                                                                  Luke 22:44

Then He was arrested and taken to the chief priest and elders, where they beat Him and ripped out chunks of His beard.

Mark 14:45-46                         Matthew 26:65                          Matthew 26:67-68                         Isaiah 50:6

Next, Pilate had his men flog Jesus to within less than an inch of His life and they beat a crown of thorns into His head.

John 1

9:1-5

We know the next place we see His blood being poured out of His body  is when they nailed Him to the cross and finally, they pierced Jesus’ side with a spear.

Acts 2:23                                                                                                                                     John 19:34

These are all the places within the “Passion of the Christ,” where we see Jesus pouring forth His blood. For Jesus knew He would be the final sacrifice, and that is why John the Baptist prophetically called Him:

…the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.”

 John 1:29

*           *           *           *           *

There is an old hymn and two of the lines go like this:

There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood, of the lamb.

 There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood

of the lamb.

Yet the question must be asked:

Where is this power today?

We know that the whole Bible points us to Jesus, to His life, and that His life was in His blood and it was His blood poured out for us. The reality is that the blood of Jesus has done so much for each of us, but only if we embrace it, if we own it, if we cause it to be a high value in our daily life. Remember, Jesus said:

“…do this often and in remembrance of me.”

 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Do what?

The Sacrament of Communion.

At Communion we are to remember the shed blood and our Lord’s broken body on the cross.

Now, one last point concerning the blood of Jesus. It is the only thing that Satan dreads.  Does he fear the other archangels or scripture?   No.

Concerning Angels:

How did Michael the archangel, handle him?

He simply said:

“…The Lord rebuke you.”

Jude 1:9

In other words, Michael simply handed him over to Jesus. And be assured Jesus simply showed him His wounds. For as Jesus said on the cross:

“It’s finished!”

 John 19:30

Also, we know that scripture teaches us that Satan sometimes disguises himself as an

“angel of light.”

2 Corinthians 11:14

But concerning the blood of Jesus, this he cannot counterfeit nor can he copy.

And finally, concerning scripture, Satan had even tried to manipulate scripture in the challenging of our Lord, Himself. Remember what happened after Jesus had fasted for 40 days(Luke 4:1-13)

So, why does he hate the blood of Jesus? Because, it is the blood of Jesus that shows Satan that he is totally defeated.  Jesus completely fulfilled down to the last detail what was required to break the power over sin and death. Satan knows that it was the blood of Jesus poured out, and that it was the perfect sacrifice and that this very offering was accepted by our heavenly Father.

1 John 4:10

This is a reality that Satan is very aware of, and this is the very revelation that he wants to keep from us.

Now, when we grow in appreciation of this sacrifice that our wonderful Lord made for each of us, it will be at that time that,

His freedom

His peace,

His healing and

His victory

will come to pass in increasing measure within each of our lives.

A personal question.

How important do you allow the blood of Jesus to be in your life?

*           *           *           *           *

In answering that question, it is to that same degree that you embrace the importance of the blood of Jesus that you will also experience your inheritance from your heavenly Father.  The fact is, absolutely everything that relates to the New Covenant between your God and you is tied to the blood of His Son, your brother, Jesus.

 Hebrews 13:20

*          *          *          *          *

Our ongoing prayer to Our Triune God needs to be:

Father,

I need a fresh revelation concerning the blood of your Son, Jesus.

Holy Spirit,

Help me, teach me, to understand this great truth.

Lord Jesus,

You are worthy to receive all glory, honor and praise

from me, for the rest of my life and on into eternity.

Because Lord Jesus, as I look upon your wounds,

I know that from them You poured out Your blood for me.

Lord, I bow before You,

in worship and adoration,

in awe and in wonder.
