The LORD has established his throne in heaven,

and his kingdom rules over all.

My God is Sovereign.

*          *          *          *          *

Which means:

*The nations as well as all of history and world events

are under His complete control and authority

and His eternal plans and purposes will be accomplished.

So, what else do I know about His Sovereignty?

I know it is His will that none should perish but that
all would come to repentance.

Yet, that has not, does not, and will not always happen.

God in His Sovereignty has chosen to give me the ability to “choose or reject” the plans He has for me.

And yet what is astounding about Him is,

my God is still

big enough,

powerful enough,

wise enough,

clever enough

to work all of it toward His eternal plans and purposes.

All of man’s free choices,

as well as the work of the devil,

all of it,

God does and will take and work it towards His purposes.

I have read some sad stories in scripture that tell of men who have rejected His plans.

Men like Saul, the first king of Israel, or the rich young man in Matthew 19.

Then there are other wonderful stories in the Bible that tell of men who accepted His plans.

Men like Joseph, Daniel and John

There are also stories in the Bible that offer hope.

These stories tell of men who struggled with the plans that our God had for them,

men like Moses, King David and the Apostle Peter.

Yes, they went through their struggles,

but they lived to experience our God’s destiny for their lives.

It is their stories that give me great hope.

W hat is my take away from these stories?

What does His Sovereignty mean to me, personally?

That He created me, a free moral being with full power of choice.

That I can choose or reject the plans He has for me.

It is in Jeremiah 29 where it says

that these plans he has for me are good plans.

In John 10;   Jesus Himself promises me that as I am obedient to Him – He will give me a full life.

Therefore,

I have chosen to align my will with the plans He has for me.

For I know the plans He has for me are designed to bring me

into an ever increasing revelation of His Father’s heart for me.

I once heard a unique definition for the word “joy.”

Joy is having 100% confidence that He is in complete control.

My God is Sovereign.
